THE TREATMENT

How many treatment sessions will you need ? 

An average of three to five treatments is necessary to obtain an optimal result. The treatments are scheduled in intervals of four to eight weeks. That is about 4 weeks for the treatment of armpits, face or bikini line and ± 8 weeks for the treatment of stomach, legs or back. Hair grows in a cycle of three phases: the active phase, the transitional phase and the resting phase. Only the hair in the active phase is sensitive to the laser light and can be treated. This is why the treatment has to be repeated in intervals.

Very effective !

The laser beam of the LightSheer has a diameter of 1 cm2 and is able to destroy many hair follicles per second. Due to this big diameter it is possible to treat extended areas as armpits, bikini line as well as whole arms, legs or even the whole back. Thanks to the high effectiveness of the LightSheer no endless treatments are necessary, but only 3 to 5, which reduces the costs of the entire treatment to an amazingly low amount. 

Skin-friendly

The head of the laser device is placed onto the treatment area. The bundle of light is emitted a fraction of a second onto the skin. The energy of the laser light is absorbed mainly by the pigment present around the hair root. This way the cells in the hair root are heated up and destroyed selectively. By emitting the heat for only a brief time and the use of a cooled head the skin surrounding the hair is protected and the treatment is less painful.

This cooled laser head, the ChilltipTM, results in extra protection for the skin and minimizes treatment discomfort. No anaesthetics are necessary. As this laser is gentle to the skin, the skin will only be slightly red after the treatment, similar to a sunburn, and may show a small degree of swelling. This depends on the type of skin. The reaction usually subsides quickly and you can go back to your activities immediately.

Preparation 

In order to obtain an optimal result we advice you not to epilate, pluck or use other methods of hair removal during the 4 weeks preceding the treatment. Shaving or cutting is permitted. Further we advice you not to sunbathe or to use the solarium prior to treatment. We would like you to refrain from sunbathing and to protect your skin with a high factor sunscreen (30) during the four weeks following the treatment.

The Intake

If you are seriously interested in hair removal using the LightSheer then you always start with an intake. For this you come to the Laser Hair Removal Practice of Madeleine Duval. Madeleine will explain in detail how laser hair removal works and demonstrate the operation of the device. Together you'll fill in a list of questions in order to determine how the laser has to be set up for your treatment, aiming to make the treatment as pleasant and effective as possible. In some cases she'll perform a test treatment. Further a photograph will be taken of the treatment area and you'll make an appointment for the first treatment. You'll receive an information brochure laying out what you have to do to be helped immediately. The intake takes about 30 minutes and costs € 35,-.

The Treatments

The duration of the treatment is short and can vary between a couple of minutes and up to one hour. As the laser beam has a diameter of 1 cm² the whole area of hair can be treated during the same session. Per pulse several hair follicles are destroyed at the simultaneously, in contrast to hair removal by electric means where every hair has to be treated individually.

As has been pointed out earlier, there have to be time intervals between the treatments. The following table gives examples of the treatment cycle and the average treatment time per body-part.
